In the aftermath of 2024’s FINExME, FREE returns with a three-track follow-up, SINE NOCTIS — a somber descent into the darker side of love and loss. The project opens with the cinematic “AL B SURE!/DONELL JONES,” where he croons over three meticulous flips (courtesy of Eli Myles and Ashton Woods) reminiscent of Usher’s “U Got It Bad,” blending devotion with distance. The mood deepens on “VAN GOGH,” a hazy standout that finds FREE lamenting his lover’s indecision and seeking validation in the small details — her choice of garment, her gaze, her silence. Rounding out the trilogy is “THIN ICE FREESTYLE,” a raw and biting outro that captures him at his most jaded, gliding over the icy, minimalist production of HN and Ashton Woods.
